The engine size is determined by the performance requirements. The fitted Yanmar 315 bhp engines through a 3:1 gearbox coupled to 5 blade Mikado propellers produced a top speed of 21 knots fully laden and an excellent 16-18 knot cruising speed. Standard engineering include Debug fuel conditioners, Racor filters, fuel priming and transfer systems. The steering is Kobelt hydraulic with electronic steering and engine controls. A 12KV Fischer Panda generator is installed as well as a 3000w inverter.
The Buzzcat features an enclosed fly bridge steering station fully equipped with Raymarine electronic, radar, GPS, autopilot. This profile has been chosen to meet the requirements of long distance cruising, giving excellent visibility. The layout can be easily customised with the prototype electing a large settee to provide additional berth and rest for the off watch crew. The fly bridge opens onto a 9 sq meter planked deck which also features a full length settee under which the 30,000 btu aircon unit services the whole boat.
The overall result is a highly versatile fast power catamaran which can be easily adapted for long distance voyaging or other prime purposes such as charter by providing more accommodation, deep sea game fishing or recreational live aboard or day diving operations.
